I am SO mad right now

I was just checking up on who was visiting my blog. I clicked on a link that I didn't recognize and BOOM up popped a porn site. And even worse, my 9 year old son, Nate, was sitting right next to me! I feel violated. I hate pornography. I have three sons and it makes me sad that they have to grow up in a world where women are portrayed in such ways. The only upside is that me and Nate got to have a really good conversation about pornography. We've definitely talked about it before but this is his first experience of actually SEEING something. And I suppose it was lucky that I was there so we could talk about it and hopefully use it as a teaching time. SO mad though. He is such an innocent and sweet little kid and he to deal with that filth. Seriously so mad right now!

  1. Ugh that is seriously frustrating. I don't have kids yet, but I know I'll feel the same way when it comes to my sons. Porn literally destroys relationships and expectations. So sad that we have to worry about it when they're only 9 years old. Ugh.

  2. I absolutely hate how one innocent click of the mouse can take you to something to terrible!! Like you said, good teaching opportunity. But still, that would make me so mad!!

  3. I am actually working on a project in my public policy class that would make it so things like that can't happen. David Cameron, the Prime Minister of England, is implementing an "opt in" policy in the UK where you would have to say you want porn to come to your computer or you just don't get it. In other words the default from your server is no porn unless you specifically say you want it. I think it is a fantastic idea and one we need to try and have implemented in the USA to protect our homes and families.

  4. I feel mad just thinking about this. You are lucky. As annoying as it is, it's probably good you were there for the first time. When it happened to me for the first time, I was by myself. And then I didn't tell anyone because I thought I would get in trouble. (This was back when the Internet was brand new and adults hadn't really been taught to talk to their kids about it because it wasn't a widespread issue.) But that is SO ANNOYING! This world is so gross!

  5. I am so sorry that happened to your family. I have heard that 100% of kids will be exposed to pornography by age 11, I think. It is so scary, we want to protect them but it seems that at some point they will encounter it and we need to show them how to deal with it.

  6. I'm sorry that is awful. One time my roommate was on her computer and she didn't even click on anything and it popped up. So disgusting I wish there was a way to completely get rid of it.
